COORG - The scotland of India!!
** Coffee Coffee all around **
Just returned from the trip to Madikeri - Coorg and it was mind blowing. Everything was perfect, be it the wonderful weather, beautiful surroundings, coffee plantations, mist covered mountains, awesome food or just the company of good friends. We stayed in an estate with very hospitable hosts (The famous Kodavas, who else!). In sightseeing, we covered Talacauvery (birthplace of river Cauvery), Nisargadhama(picnic spot) and Tibetan Monastery (really awe inspiring). We missed quite a few spots due to rains and shortage of time but made it up with few games, in and out of the bus. Camp fire, barbecues and moonlit nights added the much needed spice to life. Below are the pics of the estate where we stayed, the cozy dining hut, the adorable Jumo (pet of our hosts) and ofcourse, Coffee beans.
For more details about the estate and their wonderful owners, call/visit:

You know, Divesh..I imagine myself there looking at these pictures. I've never seen how coffe grows because we don't have plantations in our country (we don't have tea bushes as well).
I'm glad to hear that you had a wonderful time in a such beautiful place. You're always lucky with places and weather!:)

Thanks for the link, Divesh! Fantastic that you made it to Coorg and had a great time. We have to go there sometime... and soon. My son's been twice already. We must follow suit. Beauty in our backyard and we're not enjoying it! A Shame! Must correct that.

Varun, Ritesh, Elya, Joe, Angel, Ram and Anonymous friends/readers, it was more fun walking on those lonesome roads surrounded by coffee plantations rather than just hopping onto few tourist spots. The owners of the estate (Viju, Nimmi and family) really played the key role in making our stay enjoyable, as well as memorable. And did I forget to mention bout the food they prepared? I have only one word for that - H-E-A-V-E-N-L-Y. No doubt I came back with few extra pounds. The dining hut was my favourite place in the morning. Go in a group to enjoy those barbecues and camp fires. Turn off your cells and enjoy the vibes of the place on moonlit nights.
